T'ai chi ch'uan or simply T'ai chi is a form of Chinese Martial Art that are practiced for both defense training and health benefits. Most modern styles trace their historical origins to Chen Village in China. T'ai chi ch'uan theory and practice evolved in agreement with many Chinese philosophical principles, including those of Taoism and Confucianism. In the Western World, it is practiced by people with little or no interest in martial training, but for its benefit to health and health maintenance. This form of Martial Art also couples meditation.
